A bit about the role… 

You’ll work within a team of backend developers, alongside mobile engineers, product designers and managers, QA testers, data scientists and business analysts. You and your team(s) will be responsible for delivering the roadmap set out for the Digital area as well as continuously improving the current applications.

 

As an engineer in the Digital Consumer team you’ll own and contribute to a number of key areas on a weekly basis:

  • Contributes to the technical decisions for the Costa applications alongside, senior Engineers and Solution Architects, to find the right solutions for the digital domain.
  • Helps mentor the more junior members in the Node.js teams, and others, to help grow our expertise in the area.
  • Code quality reviewing and standards maintaining.
  • Work closely with our product teams to build new and innovative application experiences.
  • Be an efficient and responsible team member, communicate, participate, and help
  • Analyse and optimise code for quality, efficiency, and performance.

Help the work on automating our development and delivery processes to build better quality products that allow us to move fast when making changes.As part of the Costa team you will be contributing to a number of different projects including:

  • Globalisation of our technical stack – making our main technology stack scalable for the global markets we want to target.
  • Personalisation – we want to use new technologies to really personalise Costa to our consumers and make their experiences the best they can be.
  • Loyalty app and site improvements – we are continuously trying to improve out loyalty apps and websites to provide the best consumer experience possible.

  • Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript: Good understanding of Node.js and TypeScript for writing efficient, scalable code.
  • Microservices Architecture Experience: Strong knowledge in developing, and managing microservices in a serverless context.
  • Serverless Framework Expertise: Hands-on experience with the Serverless Framework for building and deploying applications.
  • AWS Services Proficiency: Familiarity with AWS services, especially AWS Lambda and related services like API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, etc.
  • API Gateway Patterns: Knowledge of using API gateways for managing microservices, including routing, authentication, and rate limiting.
  • DevOps Mindset: Familiarity with DevOps principles, including infrastructure as code, monitoring, and logging.
  • GitHub Actions for CI/CD: Proficiency in GitHub Actions for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Database Skills: Knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases and integrating them within microservices.
  • RESTful API Development: Experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
  • Event-Driven Architecture: Experience with event-driven architecture, which is crucial for scalable microservices.

Location / Travel:   The role will be hybrid model with the expectation of being in the Sofia office 2-3 days per week as required. Some international travel may also be required on up to a quarterly basis e.g. to the UK to participate in face to face planning meetings with our central digital teams and stakeholders.
